Hathaway Marine Surveyors Staff

Brian M. Hathaway, President, is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and has been involved in the marine industry for more than forty years as a ship's officer aboard tankers, passenger liners, and cargo vessels and as an instructor of technical nautical subjects. He founded Hathaway Services, Inc. in 1973 and has been an active marine surveyor since then.

He is a member of the National Association of Marine Surveyors, Certified Marine Surveyor (NAMS-CMS), a member of the Portland Marine Society, the Council of American Master Mariners, and a U.S.C.G. licensed Unlimited Master Mariner.

S. Merrill Hall has retired from active marine surveying. After 53 years of continuous employment in many fields, he has come to the realization that work isn't what it's cut out to be. He intends to spend his final years as a human being. For those that know him well, attaining this goal may be "iffy" at best.

Although no longer doing marine surveys, he will continue with Hathaway Marine Surveyors as a technical consultant, survey editor, and on-call all-around lackey. As a diversion he will be entering his pet, Putzie, in the 2012 International Piranha Fighting Society competitions to be held in Montevideo, Uruguay. We wish them well.

He is a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, Accredited Marine Surveyor(SAMS® AMS®).
